Sustainability Statement
‘-Starting with the base mechanics I used a pipe and drape metal pole to support the 20 foot high design. From there, I wrapped the poles in chicken wire (which I have personally reused and am still reusing). Then I secured the bamboo by drilling holes and fastening it to the chicken wire with waxed twine.
-To fill the design in I used Agrawool in places with large amounts of floral. In places with smaller amounts of floral we used Eco-wraps with compostable bags. --The plants added in are all bagged in compostable bags with moss and wax twine in a rough "kokedama" style.
-The base of the design had a sheet of burlap and a larger compostable bag placed down to protect the flooring of the venue. The covering was then covered with dirt, moss and fresh spring plants from the local nursery.
-The hanging elements were using made using agra wool inside a half of a bamboo segment. They were hung with reusable thick fishing-line to create the floating effect.
-The tablescape was done using the same mechanics as the hanging portions. The smaller arrangements on the table utilized floral Genius's pin cups. Fresh fruit was used to enhance the colors.
These mechanics used fall into two categories, which are multi-use/reusable, or bio-degradable. No single use plastics were included in this project. This was by far a fully eco-friendly design and not a complicated design to accomplish. This would be something that could be adapted for future event designs and sustainability. I am confident that with these techniques, any florist in the event industry could easily follow these steps and implement them into their practices.’
