Sustainability Statement
‘Reduce
We are in the summer season. Nature is generous.
I like to notice the abundance of some native or wild plants in my environment. Especially these so-called invasive plants. They are noticed on the side of the road or on open spaces of habitation.
In this way I use what surrounds me and reduce my purchases.
For this composition I used two in particular.
• Japanese knotweed / Reynoutria japonica
o In short and long section for their graphics
o To make two hydrotubes o Garland leaves
• Typha / cattail foliage
o The sheets for their graphics
o Cord braided leaves
Reuse and Recycle
I naturally like to propose otherwise. Out of the frame is my first reflex.
I like to develop what is not offered or no longer available and adapt it to the situation.
I love murals and I believe that bringing well is a great and new opportunity.
In this one I aimed at several aspects:
1. A floral arrangement in memory of the deceased You have to have lived funerals without flowers to understand the importance of having them even if it is only one room.
2. A reception room or main attraction The layout must be reviewed in order to create a more conducive and welcoming space. Either at the entrance or exit of the reserved space. New reusable supports may need to be provided or a frame already on the wall may need to be removed and replaced temporarily. For having done it is possible and the result amazing. And this hasbeen for the funeral home as well as for the visitors.
3. A support to receive messages for the family or to deposit with the deceased. I found a little useless the signature book that is offered at the entrance of the room where t exposed the deceased. At an AIFD congress, the piece in memorial for members who died during the year. There was this idea of writing a message that you wrapped up to insert it into a decorative mesh. So here's my version. It is proposed to write a message to the deceased and place it either in the coffin or in the urn of the latter. Of course these messages can be addressed to the family if one prefers.
4. An outdoor mural (Hotel à bibittes) to extend the memory. During your presentation, it was mentioned how much funeral pieces end up in the trash. Increasing our footprint...
In addition to the recycled wood plank, an old fence. Everything is 100% compostable. But here is an inspiring idea behind my composition to do a little more...
Give a new vocation to the room by allowing it to obtain the status of Hotel à bibittes. It is possible to place it on an external wall and thus extend its life.
Thank you for this friendly elbow to dare to move forward, and to join together our ideas for an important cause. It's high time to get your head out of the sand...
My piece is perfectly imperfect and the perfect excuse to correct, refine and do better.
The original of this text is in french, my original language, translated with the WORD translator.
Sincere thanks and greetings!.’
