Sustainability Statement
‘The actual floral design is created with 99.9% organic unprocessed plant material. The .01% is the cotton thread which is used to secure the design to the stand. The stand is an item which is reused over and over.
The horn like form is 100% plant material woven together by hand. There is no innorganic material in the weaving of the form, only plant material.
The vine is growing over the fence from our neighbors side. The grass is growing outside the local park. The basil is growing in our garden. The only element purchased are the mini lilies which I purchased while buying bread.
The form being 100% organic will dry and will be able to be used several times before returning to the earth.
I am very excited about my new skill i have learnt which is to weave, without using any wire - I recently did a weaving workshop to specifically learn how to make forms without wire. The successful result is exhilarating.
The cotton ties which are used to secure the design to the stand can simply be cut and composted.
It is a journey indeed and i feel this Freesia challenge has totally transformed my thinking with every project. I have officially made a statement 'We have a no foam policy'’
